Moles on the skin are a common occurrence, and moles can be located anywhere on the body. Moles can be removed from the surface of the skin through either surgical excision or shave removal.
Both procedures are performed in the office under local anesthesia. Surgical excision of a mole requires stitches following the removal. A shave removal does not require stitches and only a scab remains. The scab should heal within 10-14 days. The type of mole to be removed determines which procedure would be most effective.
