Dr. Taub Letter Winter 2018 Newsletter
Dear patients, colleagues and friends,
As I write this it is almost Thanksgiving, but when you receive this we will be deep into winter! Everybody seems to love my travelogues so I will start with telling you about my travels!
In the late summer, I attended the 5 Continent Congress in Barcelona as a faculty member. I was excited about being invited to give my first plenary lecture which was on “How to Get the Most Out of Your Tissue Tightening Treatments”. We also traveled to Seville and Granada where we took in the Alhambra, (“Red Castle” in Arabic) created in the 9th century as a military fortress and later extended to include the residence of the royal family. I was most interested to hear that in the 10–12th century there was a “Moorish Renaissance” when Muslims, Jews and Christians co-inhabited the area peacefully and engaged with each other; intellectual, medical and engineering prowess was advanced at that time.
In October, I attended Dermatologic Aesthetic and Surgical International League’s annual meeting in Shanghai, China. We also visited X’ian for the Terra Cotta Warriors and Beijing for the Great Wall. We then went off the beaten track to see Jiangjiajie National Park where the Mountains that inspired the drawings for the movie Avatar were located. This was an ancient and magical landscape that despite the noisy Chinese crowds was beautiful.
We have big news to tell you. We are going to be expanding our Lincolnshire location and adding a new doctor! We have long shared the floor with the orthodontic practice but they are now moving to the first floor and we are going to take over their space. We will also be remodeling! So hang on to your hat because we will all have to put up with noise and some disruption for the next 6 months or so. Happily, when we are done, we will have more space as well as more conveniences for you: a bigger waiting room, less cramped facilities and more examining rooms.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Monika Kaniszewska will be joining our practice as of March 1, 2018. Dr. Kaniszewska hails from the Chicago area and graduated magna cum laude from University of Illinois with a degree in biomedical engineering. She also earned a Master of Science from Northwestern University in Biomedical Engineering. She then completed her Dermatology Residency at Loyola Medical School, where she was Chief Resident. She has authored 5 medical publications and she is an Attending Physician at Edward Hines, Jr. Veterans Affairs Hospital where she has been teaching Loyola dermatology residents for the past 2 years. She has been in practice for 2 years in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Dr. Kaniszewska has a warm and caring personality to match her intellectual achievements and we are extraordinarily fortunate to have her join our practice. Let’s all give her a warm welcome!
