New Wrinkle Reducer on the Market – Dysport
The first FDA approved competitor to BOTOX® Cosmetic, formerly referred to as the name Reloxin, was FDA approved in May as Dysport. Dysport is approved for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults younger than 65 years of age. Dysport will be used much like other “Botox”-like products for reducing wrinkles caused by dynamic muscle movements. Dysport has been marketed outside the US for aesthetic use since 2001. Marketed by Medicis in the US (the company that has Perlane and Restylane as products), it is said to have a slightly different “look” than BOTOX® Cosmetic, may have earlier onset and according to their drug package insert it last 4 months. Unfortunately we don’t have more details yet but we hope to announce them soon.
